Dennis is our Vice President of Construction and handles all field operations.  He is a proud Linden, Texas native (also the home of Don Henley of Eagles fame). Linden is a quiet spot nestled in the pine trees of Northeast Texas, not too far from the Longview area where his father was a regional construction superintendent for Brown and Root, one of the largest international construction companies during the 1970s. That exposure to the “art” of building things started his passion and love for construction.  His journey into the working world, however, started at the University of Texas at Austin, where he pursued a degree in petroleum land management. But, with a global oil market crash, he decided to change direction and continued his studies at Stephen F. Austin State University, earning a BBA in Finance and Economics.

Once that graduation cap went up in the air, an incredibly interesting professional journey began.  Spending six years in the financial institution arena as a regulatory compliance officer, 15 years in a family-run business before starting his own convenience store company, and a 10-year career in outside sales before finally getting back to his construction roots and being able to form Tierra Homes with his wife, Blyth.  It began with a single project, and over the last 10 years, Tierra has been blessed to be a part of over 20 custom homes ranging in size from $600k to $2m and another 30 spec homes sold to our wonderful clients.

 

When he’s not working, it’s all about family. With five children and two grandchildren, there’s always something going on or somewhere to be. History is a passion fueling a love for travel, and he’ll never be accused of turning down a fishing trip on the coast or a skiing trip to the mountains.
